Won a Giveaway!

How surprised I was when I received a convo from Remaking Memories indicating that I had won a pendant from the 'Taking Remaking Memories Abroad' giveaway.  To enter the giveaway, Remaking Memories only asked that you  post a comment with the farthest destination you’ve ever traveled.   I mentioned that we had gone to Europe last year, which was a beautiful trip!!!  The winner of the giveaway was chosen randomly, and that lucky person happened to be me!! :-)

I was to choose between these two pendants.  Boy, did I  have a hard time making up my mind!  I finally chose the black one.  Well, it just came in the mail!!  It's even more beautiful in person!   I love it!  In fact I am going to wear it today!

Remaking Memories has a shop on Etsy.  She has a lovely collection of pendants.  She can take a drawing of your child and place it in pendant for you! What a clever idea!
Also, she can make a magnet for you out of one of your favorite photos.  Isn't that adorable?

Many thanks to you, Remaking Memories,  for this lovely pendant.  It is so pretty!  I wish you much success with your business!

Til next time ...~Jan

SNOW DAY!

My son was so happy that we finally had a snow day.  We got about 10 inches of snow.  He spent the day with his friends sledding and then back to our house to chill.  In the meantime, I took a walk to the park which is a couple of blocks away and took these pictures. I thought I would share them with you.

Oh...the possibilties!!!

OMG! I just had to share with you this awesome item I got from browneyedfox.etsy.com !

When my package came in the mail, I couldn't wait to open it!  As I began to peel away the tissue paper, I was surprised to see how nicely it was wrapped!   So pretty!!! Almost too pretty to open!!!

After a few seconds of admiring the wrapped item, I began to untie the strings and pull away the wrapped paper and still found more wrapped tissue around the item!  I felt like a kid on my birthday!

When all the packaging was finally removed, what laid before me was this beautiful heart that I had been eying in the Brown Eyed Fox Shop on Etsy for quite some time.  Isn't this gorgeous??!!? I LOVE IT!

Ohhhhhh....the possibilties!!!!!
She has some other neat items in her shop, browneyedfox.etsy.com such as this necklace...called 'Belong'
Browned Eye Fox
and this other heart....called 'stretch your wings'....

And, this adorable bracelet called ...'simply said' .......

My newly acquired heart now hangs so nicely in my studio!  It's a nice reminder, that to never give up...
as we never know
oh....what possibilties could be right around our corner...

What I have been up to...

I know, I'm a slacker!  Believe me, I want to post more often, but never seem to know what to write about.  What would my readers be interested in?  I certainly do not want to bore you!

After a busy holiday season, things are slowly returning to normal.  What's defined as 'normal'?  Well, I am not so sure!  As, I seriously  thought yesterday was Wednesday, and was totally shocked when I had gone to bed at 3 am , that my Blackberry said 'Friday'... not 'Thursday'.... but it is now 'Friday'...I  think that I must have been under some sort of spell!  I lost a day this week, and have no recollection of it!  Gee, what ever happened to my lost day?

Anyways, this week, I finally got my studio somewhat organized...It really helps me design better when things are neater and put in place.  I am able to focus better...

Then, I dyed, painted and stamped on a few blank canvases, to be used for designing some sort of covers at a later date...

I began designing a hobo slouch bag, that can be used as a tote, purse, or laptop bag.  I am still working on that design....

I created some floral brooches....aren't they cute?

I worked on some applications for art shows in 2010.  And really thought about what items I should add to my shop. Do you have any thoughts or comments?  I welcome suggestions!

And, gee,  I really, really thought about where did that lost day goooooo????

Until next time ..... ~Jan

Dickens Festival in Holly!

Last Saturday, my husband and I spent the day with dear friends of ours.  We went to the Holly Dickens Festival!  It has been about ten years since we have gone to this. It was a day well spent!  I was so disappointed that I forgot my camera, but my friend didn't!  She took these wonderful pictures!

The small quaint town of Holly came alive with characters from Charles Dickens.  I swore we had stepped into one of his books!  The music that was being  played was of the times of Dickens. I am sure these Dickens characters were glad they had that extra clothing on, as it was so cold!  I think it would be fun to dress up like that for a day!

The streets were lined with several Antique shops and beautiful Victorian architecture.  We enjoyed browsing through the shops, and going down memory lane.  I told my friend, that I can't believe that some of the stuff we see now in Antique stores, we used to have ourselves as kids!

My friend's husband thinks he looks so cool in those sunglasses and Santa hat!  He's cute, though, isn't he?  As he was leaning against the building, I thought to myself, good thing the sidewalk wasn't slippery!  He sure would have slipped!

After the festival, we headed towards Frankenmuth for their famous chicken dinner at the Bavarian Inn! Oh, it was so good!

Even though it was so cold outside, we couldn't resist taking a walk to see the beautiful lights on the streets of Frankenmuth.   Horse drawn carriages were going up and down the streets.  Oh how I love to hear those clip clop sounds the horse hoofs makes!  The trees on the streets were all lit up.  It was so pretty.

The Nativity and the Bethlehem scenes looked so pretty against the darkened sky.

My dear friend, Annette and her hubby Dan.  Many thanks to Annette for sharing these pictures!

Me and the love of my life, Gerry!
